Life Skills Seminar: Meals Made Right - This event has already occurred
Event Details:
The Life Skills Seminar program offered by the Municipality of South Bruce will teach young adults in South Bruce foundational skills for when they are ready to start school or work away from home.
The Meals Made Right seminar will have the classes Cooking 101 and Healthy Shopping.
Cooking 101 will be taught by Nikk Wise. Nikk is the owner and operator of Harley's Pub and Perk in Mildmay. Class attendees will learn how toprepare and cook essential dishes that will provide a solid foundation for when they are ready to move away from home.
Healthy Shopping will be taught by Karri Anne Cameron. Karri Anne is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and an expert in teaching healthy lifestyles. Her class will demonstrate how you can develop healthy cooking habits by learning to make the right decisions in the grocery store.
Remaining Seminars include:
Meals Made Right, to be held May 23rd starting at 7 PM at the Mildmay-Carrick Community Centre, will include classes Cooking 101 & Healthy Shopping where attendees will learn how to cook and what to look for while grocery shopping.
You can DIY, to be held May 30th starting at 7 PM at the Teeswater Culross Community Centre, will include classes Basic Plumbing & Handypeople where attendees will learn basic plumbing skills and some talents, tips and tricks for do it yourself (DIY) work.
Darn Cleaning, to be held June 6th starting at 7 PM at the Formosa Community Centre, will include classes Cleaning 101 & Mending/Sewing where attendees will learn tips and tricks for cleaning and the basics of sewing/mending.
Affording Healthy, to be held June 13th starting at 7 PM at the Mildmay-Carrick Community Centre, will include classes Small-Scale Gardening, Personal Finances & Physical Fitness where attendees will learn how to keep your body, your garden and your finances healthy.
The Right Space, to be held June 20th starting at 7 PM at the Teeswater Culross Community Centre, will include classes Rental Recon, where attendees will learn about what to look for in a rental space, and the first part of Flipping the Iceberg, where attendees will learn about how to communicate effectively with roommates.
Hands-on Help, to be held on June 27th starting at 7 PM at the Formosa Community Centre, will include classes Car Care/Cleaning & Basic IT where attendees will learn basic car care and cleaning tips as well as computer care and digital cleaning.
One Step at a Time, to be held July 4th starting at 7 PM at the Teeswater Culross Community Centre, will include classes Study & Writing & Mental Wellness where attendees will prepare for school through learning good study and writing habits, as well as how to maintain your mental wellbeing, as well as the final portion of the Flipping the Iceberg program.
